I would like to recognize Kimberly Dafrontte for her extraordinary compassion, skill, and dedication to our patients. From the moment Kim walks into the Infusion unit, she brings an atmosphere of calm and reassurance.

Patients and families immediately feel heard and respected because she takes the time to listen to their symptoms, concerns, and fears. This is especially important in our line of work in the infusion center with the population of patients we take care of. We often take care of patients who have just been diagnosed with cancer, are receiving chemotherapy, and are navigating the challenges of their diagnosis and mental well-being.

Kim consistently goes above and beyond clinical duties to ensure each patient receives care that is safe and effective. One example is when a patient was experiencing extreme anxiety with their new cancer diagnosis and navigating how to schedule an appointment for their PET scan. Kim took the extra time to sit with the patient and explain the process of their new chemotherapy, and also went ahead and helped make the patient's appointment with their upcoming scans and other doctor appointments.

As her colleagues, we admire Kim for her teamwork and professionalism. She is the first to offer help during a busy shift. She shares both knowledge and encouragement even on our tough days. The DAISY award celebrates nurses who go above and beyond every day, and Kim exemplifies that spirit in every interaction. Her dedication reminds all of us why we chose this profession.
