Kim Guilfoyle is recognized as an outstanding role model. This deserving honoree went above and beyond to ensure her patient was pain free during a painful procedure. Her patient was told she would receive pain medication before her procedure, both the surgical team told Kim that no pain medication was necessary – only the local anesthetic would do. Kim observed the panic this patient felt knowing she would not receive pain medication.
“She literally held me together; refused the surgery team entrance until my Doctor ordered a small dose of medication? Without this special nurse (who stated she was “just doing my job”), I would have had a very traumatic night. Following the procedure, I enjoyed my dinner in minimal pain. Kim was my hero! Not every nurse would fight so hard to keep her patient comfortable – I am forever grateful.
