Today, God sent one of his special guardian angels to care for my wife.
On this special day, Kim Hanks manifested the art of her nursing craft with the greatest of skills. Through her great love and empathy, she was able to help my wife through her tremendous pain and suffering on to the road of hope and recovery.
...
I had surgery which required a couple of nights stay. During my time at Eastside my care was exceptional; Doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers were compassionate, professional, caring and respectful.
One nurse that stood out was Kim. She explained every facet of what and why it was going on. She stayed after her shift to talk about medications because the subject of opiates came up because I refused them.
When she asked why I explained that my brother OD'd on opiates and I was not in any pain. She and I talked about the over prescription of opiates in our society. She explained that she educates patients on their use and abuse. This is a best practice element of NIDA/NIH. I commend her for this practice.
As a retired psychology instructor, I am very knowledgeable in this area but also know the general public is not. Eastside Medical Center and Kim Hanks should be commended for this.
Thank you Kim,for the excellent care that I received.
