Kim is an exceptional nurse who provides a high standard of care with every interaction. An example of this is when taking care of a critically ill DKA patient who was obviously decompensating. There were inexperienced providers on. Kim kept a cool head and drove care. Kim placed the patient in a room and on a monitor. She ensured peripheral IV was placed quickly obtained lab samples for baseline values, printed and started our DKA protocol for providers. She was able to find the time to reassure the patient's family who was anxious and high strung. She kept a level head throughout and expeditiously ensured the patient's needs were met in this critical time. The patient was altered, and Kim showed kindness compassion, respect, and efficiency when delivering care. It was amazing to witness such an amazing nurse provide needed patient and family education while ensuring a safe environment for the patient.
