She became my support person and I couldn’t have made it through the rest of my operation without her care.
As a first-time mom who already struggles with anxiety, giving birth was something I was absolutely terrified of and dreaded my entire pregnancy. Capt Hunt was my day nurse during my labor and delivery and they both made a world of a difference in my birthing process and entire 4 night stay in the hospital. I was induced at 39 weeks due to issues with high blood pressure and polyhydramnios. Along with my polyhydramnios, having an anterior placenta made it very difficult to monitor my little girl in my belly.

Despite the labor and delivery team’s best efforts, after 34 hours of active labor and a couple of scary dips in my baby’s heartbeat, I had to have an unplanned c-section. Capt Hunt was my nurse during the day and she was with me during those couple of scary dips and pre-opt for my c-section. I will never forget how well Capt Hunt took care of me not only physically but also emotionally during those terrifying moments. At the time, a c-section was my worst nightmare and something I really feared. Capt Hunt clearly answered my one million questions and concerns that I had and she kept me well-informed and in good spirits leading up to my c- section. Her constant reassurance and positive attitude helped keep me calm leading into surgery.

When my baby girl was delivered, my husband, at my request, stayed by our baby's side the entire time which in return left me all alone during the second half of my operation. Capt Hunt never left my side and held my hand whenever my husband wasn’t able to be there. She became my support person and I couldn’t have made it through the rest of my operation without her care. Capt Hunt even captured candid pictures of us meeting our baby girl for the first time! I will cherish those pictures for many years to come!

By the end of my stay in the hospital, Capt Hunt felt like more of a lifelong friend rather than just a nurse taking care of me. Whenever we were getting discharged from the hospital I actually teared up while saying goodbye and gave her a hug! Capt Hunt and my other night nurse are the reason I can look back on my scary labor and delivery moments and smile. They helped me turn a potentially traumatizing labor into a beautiful birth story and I couldn’t be more thankful for them both. Their amazing skills and great compassion for me and my family will be something I remember for my entire life!!
