All of the nurses whom I was in the care of during my stay at Stamford Hospital were truly extraordinary. The same goes for the rest of the staff who are very personable, caring, and informative. They all made me smile and I had fond and lengthy exchanges with many of them. The reason I am nominating Kim Munoz is simply that she is a cut above the rest in the attention she gave. Part of my treatment was pain management. I think it is fair to say, when you are in pain, every minute can feel like an eternity.

While every medication is paramount in care, as a patient it is the pain that has you pressing the call button. For the patient waiting for pain medication, these minutes are sometimes excruciating. Kim familiarized herself with my case and my concern of going beyond 6 hours before receiving my medication. In lieu of this, she was at my room with all of my medication at exactly the 6-hour mark. This not only alleviated me from undue pain but stress and negative feelings associated with having to press the call button and interrupt the nurse's work to have my pain alleviated. It goes without saying, that in order to provide this care, Kim, had to be familiar with my regimen. She had to organize herself accordingly while dealing with other patients.

While I would not expect this all the time from anyone, it was truly inspiring to see someone care so much and therefore work so hard. Kim also took the time to show me the keyboard for the Get Well Network, which made access to the available technology much easier. She was also the first nurse to tell and then show me there are movies available in addition to TV. This was after she took notice that I watched a lot of news and commented on it. Through further inquiry, Kim found it was mostly all I enjoyed watching on the available channels and pointed this feature out. She took the time to go the extra step with a host of things. She has a sparkling personality and is a special and warm person that has made a lasting difference in my life.

Kim always makes sure to check the computer to assure all is in order. She is professional, prudent, understanding, and gentle. Your team is very fortunate to have her.

I’m sharing my story today about a wonderful nurse, Kim Munoz. In life, God sends special people like Kim to take care of you and your loved ones. My husband had surgery on Friday. My special thank you is for Kim, who took care of my husband.
