I recently had a procedure and was lucky enough to have this nurse prepping me, doing the pre-surgery assessment, starting an IV, etc. She is such a great example of what nurses should be: calming, educated, pleasant, friendly, experienced, warm, caring, and putting the patient at ease. I wasn’t concerned about my procedure, but I was really impressed with her positive attitude—Kim would certainly calm someone’s nerves if they were worried. I think that pre-op, surgery, and post-op nurses don’t get a lot of kudos or thanks because they are not bedside nurses, but this nurse has all the qualities of a nurse deserving of a DAISY award!
