Kim consistently exemplifies integrity in their clinical practice by making decisions based on what is best for the patient, even when faced with challenges.
I am honored to nominate Kim for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership, dedication to patient care, and her ability to inspire and guide her team toward achieving outstanding results. Kim exemplifies all the qualities of an outstanding nurse leader—compassion, vision, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

As a nurse leader, Kim has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the critical importance of patient-centered care. She prioritizes both the physical and emotional needs of patients, ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of care in a compassionate and respectful manner. Her leadership fosters an environment where every team member is focused on the well-being of the patient, and where collaboration is encouraged to achieve the best possible outcomes.

What sets Kim apart is her ability to lead by example. She creates a culture of teamwork and support, empowering nurses and staff to continuously grow, improve, and deliver exceptional care. Kim takes time to mentor and encourage her team, providing guidance and support to help individuals reach their full potential. She actively promotes professional development, ensuring that the entire team is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the challenges of modern healthcare.

One of the core priorities of Destination 2030 is improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall patient experience by creating a connected and convenient best experience for our patients. Through the implementation of evidence-based practices and patient-centered care strategies, Kim has led the charge in instituting shared governance councils and partnerships with frontline staff that enable tests of changes in these focus areas. Their focus on quality care has directly contributed to our system's goals of better health outcomes and increased patient engagement, which are foundational to the Destination 2030 vision.

Kim consistently exemplifies integrity in their clinical practice by making decisions based on what is best for the patient, even when faced with challenges. For instance, when a patient presented with a complex medical condition that required careful coordination of care across multiple departments, Kim ensured transparent communication with both the patient and the healthcare team. She served as the liaison for the patient, daughter, placement agency, and the legal teams. She advocated for the patient’s needs and made sure all team members were aligned in providing the most appropriate care, even when it meant challenging existing procedures to ensure a better outcome. Her honest, straightforward approach built trust among both patients and colleagues. The patient was placed successfully to the satisfaction of family and clinical teams.

Kim recognizes the importance of acknowledging the hard work and achievements of her team. She makes it a point to celebrate both small and large successes, whether through informal praise, team shout-outs, or recognition during team meetings. This consistent positive reinforcement creates an environment where team members feel valued and motivated to perform at their best. For instance, this DAISY Award was made possible by Kim as she championed the initiation of these awards.
