Kim offered them a ride and drove the new mom and baby home that hot afternoon, so they didn’t have to wait on their ride.
Kim is a nurse educator, and some may think this type of role is not patient-focused. This is not true. Nurse educators like Kim are very much involved in patient care and advocacy. They see their job duties as a priority to impact patient safety, quality, and experience. Kim has been known to see situations where patients needed extra support and she is always eager to help.

One hot humid summer day Kim was walking near the main entrance and noticed a new mother and a days old newborn standing outside waiting for a van to pick them up. The time of arrival for their transportation was going to be delayed and Kim asked them where they needed to go. Kim offered them a ride and drove the new mom and baby home that hot afternoon, so they didn’t have to wait on their ride.

Just recently Kim was aware of a new mom and baby who needed supplemental formula, there were no stores that had it available. Kim took samples from the OB department to that family’s home so the baby could be fed appropriately. Kim always makes patient safety, quality, and experience a priority.
