May 2026 Honoree
Kimberly Miller 2026, RN III
I suffered a stroke. I was transported via ambulance to the IRU unit. I arrived cold, scared, and uncertain of my future. Kim was the first nurse I met. Unit nurses were fluttering about the room, and I was sitting in the middle of the chaos. Kim stepped up and displayed great leadership skills. She quickly took charge of the room, dismissed everyone, and asked me to calm down, and that she was going to step outside for a moment to let me calm down, as my fear was visible. After a few minutes, she returned with a dinner tray and said, "Eat first, then we will talk". I was instantly calm for the first time. Throughout my stay, her level of care, competence, and compassion never wavered. I felt safe with Kim near. After extremely difficult rehab days, she always met with a smile upon my return. She was my cheerleader, celebrating my progress. Kim Miller sets the standard for care and compassion during a very difficult time. I told her that when she is on duty, I sleep better. I feel blessed to have had such a competent, caring, compassionate nurse care for me. Kim is a professional and deserving of the DAISY Award.
Thank you, Kimberly, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
