Kimberly Murphy LPN was nominated to receive the DAISY award by a fellow staff member of B1, Hero's Harbor of the VHA Hudson Valley Health Care system. Kimberly, she writes, comes to work with a smile and positive attitude that makes coming into work a joy.
Kimberly takes joy in caring for her veteran patients, treasuring conversations and the time she spends caring for them. Kimberly's skills include the ability to calm patients and convey the fact that she cares for them. Kim's fellow staff member has observed the faces of patients and family light up when Kim enters the room. With a soft and calming voice, Kim politely greets each veteran. Kimberly not only sets her patients at ease she takes extra care to respect their personal likes and dislikes. "Little tricks" such as shielding a light sensitive Vet's eyes from harsh lighting, "make the task at hand so much easier."
Kimberly is also there to lend a hand to her fellow employees. "Never once do you have to ask Kim for help" and "she always seems to be where you need her when you need her." Challenges are seen as opportunities to learn and grow as a health care provider. Kimberly also looks for input from her fellow staff members' drawing on their years of varied experience.
Kimberly received the DAISY award because an all-around amazing employee deserved to be recognized for her hard work and dedication to the veterans.
