Kim has dedicated nearly 45 years to the nursing profession and has made a profound impact on countless patients, families, and colleagues throughout that time.

What stands out most is that even after such an extraordinary career, Kim remains eager to learn. She continues to ask questions, seek knowledge, and look for opportunities to grow, demonstrating the curiosity and humility that define truly exceptional nurses.

As Kim approaches retirement, it is difficult to imagine a more deserving recipient of this recognition. Kim has had an exemplary nursing career. Her stories from working in different specialties and working in different countries can captivate anyone.

When I first started at Baptist, Kim was my preceptor. The way she teaches is the way I strive to teach my own orientees. She is always calm, nonjudgmental, and encourages you to think through problems and arrive at the solution yourself. She fosters critical thinking while helping you build confidence in your skills. She is one of the best mentors anyone could hope to have.

Kim has always been a fierce advocate for her patients and their families. She is a true role model when it comes to supporting developmental milestones in the NICU. Everyone knows that if one of our older NICU patients needs a crib or a big-kid bed, Kim will find one because she understands that's the environment they deserve and need to thrive.

She talks to her babies as if they are little adults, carrying on full conversations with them. They look at her with complete fascination, as though they understand every word.

Throughout her career, Kim has created countless meaningful moments for her NICU patients by providing the kind of compassionate, exceptional care every parent hopes their child will receive. She has given parents comfort and reassurance during some of the most difficult times of their lives. When parents walk into the unit and see that Kim is their nurse, you can instantly see the relief on their faces.

She has inspired and encouraged countless new nurses, shaping not only their skills but also the kind of nurses they aspire to become. Kim has spent her career changing lives—those of her patients, their families, and her colleagues.

Now it's her moment. Her moment to retire knowing she has made a lasting difference and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, advocacy, and excellence that will continue to inspire others for years to come.
