Kim was recognized by the mother of an adult special-needs patient for being an advocate for her son's care and treating him with dignity and respect and "like a regular person, which does not always happen." Kim took the time to talk about things important to the patient; she made him laugh and helped get his mind off being hungry when he had to fast for an upcoming surgery - all of which distracted him from thinking about the procedure. The mother was especially grateful for Kim's doggedness in coordinating with a specialist to schedule a much-needed procedure, which eventually led to the patient's recovery and discharge. Kim's advocacy and her thoughtfulness and her truly being present with her patients make her a true DAISY Nurse.
