Whenever Kimberly came into check on my mom, we could feel she was sincere and truly cared for my mom's wellbeing.
My mom came to the ER, then to observation and was admitted. Whenever Kimberly Wetzel came into check on my mom, we could feel she was sincere and truly cared for my mom's wellbeing. My mother was given lactulose which made her have diarrhea. One time, she couldn't make it to the toilet and made a mess on the floor and toilet seat. Kimberly assured us it was ok to clean up and called EVS to be disinfected. She also checked up on my dad and asked if he needed anything.

Then when my mom was discharged, she was instructed to pick up lactulose and rifAXImin and start taking it in the evening. When we went to the drug store, rifAXImin required prior authorization to be dispensed. Now, this was after 6pm. We didn't know how to get hold of the doctors since she was already discharged, and it was after office hours. We also didn't know what could happen if she doesn't get to take the med. I ran to the nurse station and when I saw Kimberly, I was relieved. I explained the situation and she immediately sent messages to Doctors. She passed on the message that the doctor is working with the pharmacy and insurance. She then told me to wait till 8pm when her shift ended. She said she will follow up and let me know the latest status. I was happy to wait but she apologized for making me wait. At 7:30 pm, the doctor stopped by and explained that he talked to insurance, but it was denied and he had started the appeal process. He said he will pass on the insurance contact number and appeal number to the primary provider to finish and he checked with another doctor, my mom is ok to not take the med right now as long as she takes lactulose.

It was an unexpected surprise to see the doctor working with insurance at such a late hour and to tell me in person. I am so grateful for Kimberly for listening and to contact the doctor immediately. I was afraid that the nurses might say they will pass on the message to the doctor, and someone will get back to me. This was a very emotional moment for me to realize someone cared so much and sincerely for my mom's health. I left with gratitude and a higher respect for nurses. I felt such warmth to know someone outside of the family cared and showed such comfort in this difficult moment. My mom and dad were relieved to know she didn't need the med immediately and they were working to get the med for my mom.

Kimberly is truly an extraordinary nurse.
