Kimberly was amazing in every way. She wasn't just my nurse, she became a friend to me, someone I could put my trust in and to care for me.
I am a 43-year-old single mom. I came in for surgery for my back and from the beginning, I was already scared. Also from the beginning of the procedure to the point of when I was being escorted into the operating room the staff was pretty good to me, I must say that. They were friendly, caring, funny, and very informative. After surgery, I was blessed to meet Kimberly Wong. I don't even know where to start when it comes to telling you the kind of care she gave me.
Kimberly was amazing in every way. She wasn't just my nurse, she became a friend to me, someone I could put my trust in and to care for me. She cared for me the way a mom would care for a child; that's the kind of care she gave to me. She was patient, kind, understanding, gentle, nurturing, and most importantly she paid attention to my needs especially those when I was down. When it came down to needing assistance with using the bedpan or that evening when she came in and I was crying hysterically, she was there to support and care for me. The care she provided came from the heart; it got to the point I called her by her first name and she called me by mine. She would dry my tears when the pain became unbearable. Kimberly would hold my hands and comfort me with her words as I laid there filled with so much pain and uncertainty.
When she would have to leave I never want her to go but when she came back in the morning my face would light up with the biggest smile because that was the feeling of joy she brought to me through her level of care that I received. Kimberly truly wants to make a difference and to help people. Kimberly, thank you so much for all that you have done for me, and I will never forget you. As I am writing this letter tears are coming down my eyes, but they are happy tears because you deserve every bit of my happy tears. I wanted to write more but I can’t sit for too long and my back is beginning to hurt but you were worth it.
Note: This is Kimberly's 2nd DAISY Award!
