I went into Southwest Labor and Delivery to get monitored because my baby was not moving. To mine and my husband's dismay, our daughter had passed. We had two nurses and one doctor taking care of us that night. Kim Wood was one of those nurses. Kim was not only very professional and skilled at her job, but she was also deeply compassionate and kind. Kim came in and checked on me and my husband regularly. Nurse Kim sat and listened to our sadness and pain with real attentiveness. As a whole, Kim did everything she could to make the worst night of our lives bearable.
Two days later, we came back in to deliver our daughter. Once again we had Nurse Kim. Having a familiar face and a calming presence helped us so much. Kim made sure that I was in a quiet private room giving up the use of an aide for that right, as well as taking on all of my care. Things like emptying the trash and getting me drinks and food. Kim did a great job of managing my pain and listening to my needs. Through my whole hospital stay and traumatic experience, Kim's compassion, kindness, and dedication to my care never wavered. Having care like this made it easier to focus on our daughter and enabled us to make memories of love and not pain. Because of all these reasons Kim Wood is an Extraordinary Nurse!
