Kim vested her precious time for the totality of my husband.
My husband, L, was admitted to the hospital through the ER. He was sent to surgery within a few hours due to his sugar diabetes being out of control – A1C level 15 and Sugar 425. Unfortunately, it was his third stint. After surgery and post-recovery, he was placed in the 16 Tower, Baylor St. Luke's. He would be there for 8 days. Kim was his first nurse. My husband and my family were really impressed and (still today) L hangs on to her advice regarding his diabetes because she was devoted to his care – not only physically but mentally as well. In other words, she cared about him as a “whole.”

Kim took a personal interest in him and his health. She not only dressed his wounds, drained a tube, administered meds, and ensured he had meals or changed bed linens, but she also addressed him mentally. She went into detail (more than once) explaining why he was in the hospital and how he had the ability to control his sugar. She encouraged him and reminded him of those who depend on him and that not taking responsibility for his health would devastate his family. She emphasized the ramifications of not controlling his sugar such as blindness, loss of limbs, or even death for being negligent with his health. She reminded him more than once that he was really blessed this time to have made it.

Kim vested her precious time for the totality of my husband. She reached him where others had not been able to penetrate. For this, I believe Kim stands above the others – she cared about L as a “whole” for which we will forever be grateful.
