When it was all said and done, Kimsa took our posters and arranged them in mom's room so she could see her family's love and encouragement.
My mom was admitted to the COVID floor. Being apart was the most difficult part for us as her family. Any time anyone has been admitted, we've always been able to stay, until COVID.
Thursday was Thanksgiving and I had been working on a surprise to come to the hospital and hold signs outside of our mom's window to brighten her spirits. I thought we could at least be together in this way for Thanksgiving.
Kimsa called me Thanksgiving morning and worked out the perfect time for us to arrive and she would have my mom ready. Sure enough, she came into my mom's room, surprised her, and took her to the window. Kimsa held my mom and just let her cry. She had to literally hold her up as my mom was so emotional. The love and compassion she showed my mom, she even got emotional herself my mom said. She even took pictures so my mom could hold onto that memory while she was in the hospital. I was blown away by her compassion shown towards our family to help make my mom's Thanksgiving feel a little more like "home".
When it was all said and done, Kimsa took our posters and arranged them in mom's room so she could see her family's love and encouragement. I am forever grateful for what this nurse did because it was a turning point for my mom. Her nights were so hard, and this was just the fight she needed to keep pushing and help lift her spirits to fight hard! We need more compassionate and loving nurses in the field. We need more Kimsa's and to our family, she has been our angel. A million thank you's will never be enough.
