"I can't explain the feeling of being so scared and confused that I couldn't really talk or comprehend what just happened to me," the patient said after the dog attack.
Enter St. John Medical Center emergency room nurse Kip Moseley. "Kip was one of the first people to come flying into the trauma room," the patient said. "Kip took over immediately, went for heated blankets without being asked and focused on calming me down, listening to what I was trying to stutter out about my medical history."
During the patient's ER stay at St. John, Kip was there to comfort and sometimes to distract. During the trauma team's examination of her injuries, Kip was "back in the room again, talking to me about fishing, hunting, how he met his wife all to help keep my mind on something other than what they were doing."
"During all this," the patient closed, "Kip always reassured me that everything was going to be fine and that I was okay and I would make it through this."
This is Kip's 2nd DAISY Award!
