Kira’s standard of compassion far exceeds any nurse I have ever seen.
Kira has an excellent work ethic, sense of teamwork, and provides top-notch patient care. She has grown and developed and is a natural and caring mentor to the staff. Kira has a strong sense of Ohana. Her Hawaiian heritage is a big part of her positive disposition and is infectious to those around her. Every, and I mean every member of the team knows they can count on Kira to get things done. She was a member of the COVID team starting in 2020 and continues to believe nothing is more important than reassuring patients and providing them with the care and concern they need when faced with such a stressful situation.

Kira’s standard of compassion far exceeds any nurse I have ever seen. A key example of Kira’s empathy is the care she provides our maternity/OB patients. These patients, who are newly pregnant, are so excited and anxious. Kira spends literal hours of her week ensuring each and every patient receives all the information and care they need for their significant journey. This is not her main job. She is a triage nurse, charge nurse, lead nurse, lead for point-of-care and Vocera training, and part of the COVID team. She adds the OB patients in because she truly believes these patients should never be forgotten or have to wait when they are so excited about their pregnancies.

Kira never ever says no, almost to a fault! She wants her team to feel she is approachable, and she is, always. I am so grateful Kira is on our team. She is made to be an outpatient primary care nurse, it’s almost in her blood. In Hawaiian, Kuleana means responsibility. Kira is the epitome of someone who believes in both kuleana and ohana (family).
