Kirby Thompson was nominated by Sara Moulton, Assistant Director of Surgical Services for her actions when following up on a discharge phone call. During a routine discharge phone call, Kirby found the patient very confused and home alone. She searched for the emergency contact number provided when the patient was admitted and called the patient's family to alert them to the situation. The family checked on him and detemined that he needed to be brought to our Emergency Department. The patient was subsequently admitted as an inpatient.

By going above and beyond, Kirby's actions might have very well saved this patient. Sara added that she also recently received an email from one of our doctors recognizing Kirby for jumping in on "a routine case that turned into a true emergency". These actions are typical of Kirby, who Sara describes as "a caring nurse who sees something that needs to be done and does it". We are fortunate to have her here at Brookwood.
