When Kirsten first came to our house to treat my dying wife, she got on her knees to be at the same level as my wife was in the hospice bed. Whenever she was here, she would touch my wife and find out how she was! She included all of my family in any discussions or decisions. Besides being a professional, she was a very caring and gentle, compassionate person. In a short time, she became a part of our family and I felt she honestly cared about the people she was treating, all of us.

She was a blessing in her help to us all. She made the process of passing as tolerable as possible for my wife. It has been almost 3 years since my wife passed and I just found out about the DAISY Award program and am submitting this nomination. Mayo Clinic Health System is fortunate to have a caring, professional person like Kirsten to be representing their organization. I would like to thank Kirsten for helping us. I am not sure I would have made it without someone like her. She taught me so much.
