... in the midst of our recent Jackson winter storm, JB was discharged after spending eight days hospitalized on 2 South. Discharge orders were written but the patient and his significant other had no transportation to their house off Baily Avenue. Case Management arranged for a cab voucher and the patient was discharged just after 7:00 pm that night.
As the day shift charge nurse, Kishina Terrell, was preparing her report for the night shift charge nurse, she noticed prescriptions for this patient that were left on the nurses' station counter. She attempted to call the patient but got no answer. Knowing that the patient had no transportation and that he needed the prescription, Kishina felt compelled to hand-deliver the prescription since it was nearing the time for her to end her shift.
Needless to say, the patient and significant other were pleasantly surprised to see the nurse arrive at their house with the prescriptions in hand.
Knowing she had hazardous roads to navigate home, herself, to a rural area outside Crystal Springs and that she would be traveling back to the hospital for her shift early the next morning, Kishina still said that she just wouldn't feel right about doing anything other than the "right thing."
