The number of times Kizzy has been recognized as an outstanding nurse by her patients is something to be proud of. Kizzy is able to connect with her patients and make a difference in their time at Ivinson. In my time as Kizzy'ssupervisor,I have seen her be recognized and receive letters from a wide variety of patients from detoxing patient that gained the strength to start living sober, to a family that had lost their loved one. One situation that left a lasting impact on me was a time that we got a young college student in the ICU who unfortunately did not live long. Kizzy was the nurse that day and watching her care for that patient was inspiring, and the way she made the parents feel in this horrible time in their lives still brings me to tears. The parents of this patient traveled to Laramie from hours away when they were notified. When they got to the hospital they were brought into the ICU to see their child. Kizzy helped comfort them and spent a large portion of time with them that day and helped arrange for them to be cared for. About a week after the tragedy we received a letter from the parents. The letter thanked us for caring for her son and also for caring for her and her family. They felt that we went above and beyond the standard procedure. The mother expressed how comforting it was that the nurse made sure someone was always with him in his final hours. She closedbysaying how the care her son received in Kizzy's hands was a source of comfort for her in a time where she was struggling to find any comfort.
