We've had a patient on our floor for over 7 months. During that time Kolby built a great nurse-patient relationship with him. The patient has stated, "I know I can count on Kolby to tell me how it is because I know that she cares". Kolby was invested in this patient and cared about his overall well being, not just on the days she cared for him. In getting ready for his discharge a large number of our staff members were worried what his future would bring. Kolby made this patient a goal board setting up time frames and goals to keep him on track. She had staff write down motivational quotes and support for the board and she had staff write him letters of encouragement to open when times were tough. Kolby provided dedicated, compassionate, individualized care for the patient, and had a beautiful idea for continuing that care for him when he leaves us.
