She spoke to at least 3 different providers in order to make sure things were ruled out and that a proper plan of care was in place to provide the best care possible for our patient.
We had a patient who was seeking treatment for mental health issues. He was a very challenging patient due to being developmentally delayed, blind, incontinent, assaultive, and needing assistance with all ADLs. He had burnt out many staff. Kori Kwong was very patient and kind with him. When he would become agitated and would hit, spit, or bite, she would spend hours trying to de-escalate him by playing music or taking him for walks. He had difficulty voicing his needs, and she spoke with several providers about her abnormal assessment of RUQ pain, abnormal lab work, and other complaints the patient had. She spoke to at least 3 different providers in order to make sure things were ruled out and that a proper plan of care was in place to provide the best care possible for our patient. Kori is an amazing nurse, and I'm so glad to have her as one of my coworkers. Towards the end of our patient's stay, he was better behaved and used the skills Kori had taught him to make his needs known without hitting, spitting, yelling, or biting others. She made sure his labs indicated that his liver was improving, and he no longer c/o pain.
