Kori was my mom's nurse while she was in the hospital on TCU. We almost lost my mom during this hospitalization, and Kori saved her precious life. She was so caring and personal. She remembered our names and spoke to us in the halls even when she wasn't mom's nurse. My mom was so sick and becoming lethargic and Kori asked the doctor if we could get some blood gases on her. At first, he said no and she kept on him and he finally caved and ordered them and the results verified why she was so lethargic. My mom was then placed on bipap and her condition improved. My mom has never had any CO2 retention issues before and Kori was able to identify the problem and she pleaded her case about my mom to the doctor and my mom's outcome changed. Even the doctor told us that he wasn't keen on the idea of ordering the test, but with Kori's persistence he did it, and she saved my mom's life.
My family had to make one of the hardest decisions we have ever faced when we made my mom a no code, and Kori was with us the entire time. I am so very grateful for Kori because she gave my family our mom back. The doctor told us that Kori was the one responsible for saving my mom. She was "a little pushy" as I remember and I am thankful for her pushiness. Kori is a wonderful and caring person and a great nurse. My mom was able to be discharged on her birthday and it was a very special day. We were so happy, not only that she was going home, but because we were celebrating a birthday. Things could have been so much different for our family. Kori gave us reason to celebrate instead of mourning. She has been a blessing to my family because she saved my mom's life. As I write this, I am crying because I am thinking of how different the outcome could have been. I have tears of joy because of Kori.
