Korissa floated to 4E on an extremely busy shift. From the beginning of the shift, she came in with a team player attitude. She found out that I had recently become charge and that I had no backup charge on this shift to relay questions to. She instantly made herself available. She advocated for our unit by asking her home unit to send us their resources nurse because we were short-staffed and struggling. She helped out other nurses all day! I also got to witness Korissa's ability to care for her patients. Her patient developed hematuria and was in severe pain. She advocated for the patient to be seen by supportive care and urology even when the team was hesitant. Korissa used her nursing judgment and assessment skills to convince the providers to consult others to better care for this patient. She embodies collaboration to the highest degree. Nurses like Korissa make me want to be a better nurse myself.
