Kortney has a servant’s heart and is genuinely kind, caring, loving, and concerned for everyone around her.
I have worked closely with Kortney, as well as observed her in her roles, in Shift Leading, triage, and bedside care, in the Emergency Department. She is an amazing nurse in all capacities.
I have seen her lead the team when there have been as many as 40 plus patients in the ED, and holding 19 patients for admits. I have witnessed her nursing care during the peak of Covid. I have observed her when staffing was extremely lean – whether with call-ins, attrition, or just short-staffed in general. I have worked closely with Kortney and observed her interaction with patients when they were in emergent “coding” situations, combative, agitated, hostile, argumentative, and just needing medical and nursing care. She handles all with grace and dignity.
Through all the chaos our Emergency Department can encounter, Kortney demonstrates exemplary nursing professionalism. She remains, calm, communicative, and functional, and explores every alternative to provide customer service, offering solutions to any issues that may develop from this stressful environment. She offers to rearrange her schedule and pick up extra days to help cover the ED.
Kortney arrives to work with a smile and is ready to tackle anything coming her way. Although I know the potential firestorms brewing, I have never seen Kortney falter or lose her momentum. She is a very dependable employee with an incredible work ethic – which is impressive and refreshing.
She speaks with confidence and is very reassuring to patients – of all ages. I have witnessed her interaction with the smallest crying, inconsolable child, to the frailest elderly patients we serve. She has a servant’s heart and is genuinely kind, caring, loving, and concerned for everyone around her. She is a confidant and well-respected by her fellow coworkers. Her compassion knows no boundaries. Kortney is a very rare gem and Franklin Woods Emergency Department is very, very fortunate to have her working here. I have never heard an unkind word from her or about her. Truly a remarkable woman.
Not only does Kortney give 1,000 percent when she is on the job in the ED, but she serves on several committees, coming in on her day off. Her compassion is not only evident in the patient population and family but is displayed with all of her little farm animals - both big and small, taking in strays, rejects, and any other animals needing shelter, food, and love.
God bless Kortney in all she does. Kortney deserves this DAISY Award for all she does to provide exceptional nursing care to patients, leadership for FWCH, and kindness to the community. If ever there was a person who fits the description to be the recipient of the DAISY Award – it is most definitely Kortney Stump.
