In those moments, she gave me something I will never forget: comfort in the middle of heartbreak, and the feeling that I was going to be okay, even though my baby wasn't.
I recently experienced one of the most tragic moments of my life — my baby boy was born sleeping. I was grieving and overwhelmed with emotions as I sat in the hospital room, hearing other babies crying around me, knowing that my baby in the bassinet next to me never would.
In the midst of all of that, I was blessed with the most compassionate nurse I could have ever asked for. From the moment she walked into my room that morning with tears in her eyes, she did not just see me as another patient; she saw me as a grieving mother and treated me like a member of her family.
She held my hand when times became unbearable and never made me feel alone. Kourtney allowed me space to cry, validated my feelings, and even shed a few tears with me.
In those moments, she gave me something I will never forget: comfort in the middle of heartbreak, and the feeling that I was going to be okay, even though my baby wasn't.
Thank you, Kourtney, for turning one of the worst couple of days of my life into a memory that includes a little bit of happiness because of a nurse/person like you. We are forever grateful to you.
This is Kourtney's 2nd DAISY Award!
