June 2026 Honoree
Kourtni Taylor 2, RN
Kourtni was my daytime nurse when I delivered my baby. From the moment she introduced herself, I could tell she was a loving nurse with a beautiful personality and a genuine passion for caring for others. It was clear that Kourtni truly loves nursing not only through her compassion and the care she provided, but also through the pride she takes in her presentation, from her fun eyeshadow and hairstyles to her shoes. She is truly a beautiful, caring diva. I was having trouble progressing through labor during my induction. By day three, Kourtni was the first and only nurse to offer me the peanut ball and help position me in ways that could encourage labor to progress. I expressed my concerns about getting an epidural, and she listened with empathy, walked me through the entire process, and reassured me that I was strong enough to handle whatever decision I made.
When my baby did not respond well to the epidural and his heart rate began to slow down, Kourtni acted quickly and with great urgency. She helped prepare me for an emergency cesarean section while remaining calm, comforting me, and making sure I felt supported every step of the way. After the C-section, Kourtni stayed with me and my baby, comforting us both and helping me settle into my postpartum room. Throughout the night and in the days that followed, I couldn’t stop thinking about what an incredible nurse she was. She has such a wonderful personality that can light up a room while also making patients feel safe, cared for, and understood. I truly believe I would not have remained as calm during my emergency C-section if Kourtni had not been my nurse.
On my second day of recovery, I came out of the shower to find flowers and two drinks in a birthday gift bag sitting on my bedside table. Kourtni had left them there for me. I already felt incredibly cared for under her nursing care, but that thoughtful gesture made me feel even more grateful. She transformed one of the scariest moments of my life into an experience where I felt completely safe. Because of Kourtni, I never doubted that my baby and I were in good hands. My family came to visit right after delivery and even mentioned how awesome my nurse was; she came up multiple times, and we all spoke with deep gratitude for her. I am beyond thankful that she was my nurse during such an important moment in my life, and I will never forget the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care she provided.
