Krissi was caring for a 5-year-old girl in the ED; she had a feeling that something just wasn't right. The patient had only come in for a minimal complaint. Krissi's gut just couldn't let it go. She pushed and advocated for a deeper dive and further testing. Turns out this precious little girl had a fingerstick blood glucose that registered "hi". This child was in DKA, and ended up being quickly transferred to the PICU, where she began her journey as a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic. Krissi truly made a difference in the trajectory of this child's care and the amazing partnership of her care team.
