she took control of the situation, validating my feelings with compassion and acknowledging the shortfalls and spent the day assuring me I would be OK
I had a laparoscopic colectomy with an inverted colostomy. I went to surgery, weak and malnourished. My day went as expected; however, by evening, my condition changed. I was experiencing more pain. I was aware that my medications were administered late. My IV infiltrated, and the IV monitor alarm was constantly going off. The night shift experience was another infiltrated IV and a long wait time for assistance. Needless to say, I had no sleep, and by the morning shift, I was exhausted and in tears. Then walked in Krissy Dennis with a big smile and listening ears. After hearing about all the chaos, the previous 16 hours, and my mental processing now having a colostomy, she took control of the situation, validating my feelings with compassion and acknowledging the shortfalls and spent the day assuring me I would be OK and that I was surrounded by a team that would help one day at a time. I will never forget her kindness and compassion.
