As I anxiously awaited my first baby to be born, I decided to take a breastfeeding class to help prepare myself for breastfeeding. I signed up for Krista's class, and I am so grateful I did. As I look back a year later, by the grace of God, I have met my one-year breastfeeding goal for my son. I could never have met this goal without Krista. Her course was so informative and practical while also being evidence-based and up-to-date with current research. She articulated the material so clearly and concisely in a way that was easy to understand and retain. She answered my questions without ever making me feel silly for asking them, and from the very beginning, she was so encouraging and honest. She did not downplay the challenges or make them seem insurmountable. She made me feel so empowered and prepared. My son was born unexpectedly at 36 weeks, and Krista was instrumental in equipping me with the tools and education I needed to succeed in my breastfeeding journey. Without her, I am positive I could not have made it to my one-year goal of breastfeeding my son. I am emotional thinking about the challenges I have faced over the last year to make it here, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude to Krista for her commitment to nursing excellence and equipping and encouraging mamas like me. She more than deserves the DAISY Award.
