It was like I had my mom right beside me the entire time. She made us her priority in every single way and I will never forget my unfortunate circumstance wasn't such a bad one, because she was right there beside me every step of the way.
I had been at the emergency room two nights in a row and Krista was our nurse both nights. My husband stayed with my son as I had to pick my daughter up from cheer practice, & my husband had nothing but good things to say about her! On the second night I walked into the emergency room with my 8-month-old son she took me right back knowing I had been there the night before with him having high fevers. She immediately took him back and took his temp it showed 105.6 she immediately took his clothes off and helped me change his diaper as he was miserable and took us right back! That's only the beginning. Me being there by myself as I have two other children and my husband stayed home with them as they couldn't be there she knew I was alone in a scary situation. She took charge and did everything to reassure me my baby was going to be okay & they would do everything they could for us although the emergency room was very very busy that night, she made me and my son a priority with updates and information.

When we got to the back my son was dehydrated because of vomiting and high fevers and she was right beside me while the other nurses were trying to get IVs started after a couple of attempts it didn't work. She informed me that he would have to have Intraosseous infusion, letting me know what the process would be and what it would look like before it was done so it wasn't so scary. When they came in to do it, she stood right beside me while he was having it done, making sure I would be okay as it was still a rough process because my son was screaming not only because he was miserable, but they had to drill that into his leg, she didn't leave my side until he was calm and it was over. She came back a checked on us several times, making sure we were both okay. She sat with him a few times. I had to walk away for a second to use the bathroom a few times & she sat with him every single time.

She told me he was going to have to be transferred to a pediatric hospital and was keeping me updated every step of the way. There were a few hospitals that were in consideration for him to be transferred to but as they were calling these hospitals to see if they had room for him, they didn't but every time it got denied because they were full she was right there telling me the second she knew. Finally, we got accepted to st Louis hospital, she sat with me while I was trying to process going almost four hours away from home. The ambulance wasn't going to be available until 7am. Now figuring out how to get frozen breast milk to St Louis as my son does not do well with formula and can only tolerate breast milk, as it was midnight and my other children were sleeping so I told my husband don't wake the kids to bring it. She offered to sit with my son, if we happened to get a ambulance sooner then 7am so I could go home and pick up the breast milk to bring with me to St. Louis. The fact she offered to sit with my son to go get the breast milk showed me I was her priority and would do anything to help me figure this out. I told her I didn't want to leave my son as it just made me feel better because I didn't want something medical to turn for the worst because we didn't know what was going on with him, so she helped me brainstorm as I couldn't really think straight on how to get the milk to go with me. She helped me form the the idea that my husband could get up early in the morning and bring me the breast milk in a cooler, & I could see my kids before I got on the ambulance before heading to St Louis. She even called down there to see if there would be milk available at the hospital. My son finally settled down as we were able to get like three hours of rest before the ambulance showed up.

Once we woke, she checked on us multiple times, helped me get my things together, and reassured me they would figure it out what was going on with him down there. I told her I hadn't eaten anything since 3 pm the day before, as it was 6 am, so she went and found me a turkey sandwich and a few snacks to go with me on the ambulance ride. My husband showed up at 6:30 am and she sat with my son, as my kids could not come into the hospital, so I could go outside and see my other two kids before I left in the ambulance and also get my things like my cooler of breast milk and a bag of clothes my husband had brought me. She gave me a great big hug once the ambulance showed up and told me it would be okay and I told her how much I appreciate everything she did for my son and me as I was alone and she definitely made me feel as if I wasn't alone. It was like I had my mom right beside me the entire time. She made us her priority in every single way and I will never forget my unfortunate circumstance wasn't such a bad one, because she was right there beside me every step of the way. She went above and beyond for us and myself and it reassured me that there are people out there that care very much.
