Krista Lundquist was caring for a patient when his wife was here to visit him. She was 38 weeks pregnant and he was due to go into surgery to repair his left arm. While the wife was here, her water broke. Krista took all her information, had the husband call her doctor and prepared to take his wife to Labor and Delivery. She found out that the wife already had her bag packed in the car. She asked the wife for a description of her car so that she could get the bag for her. She took the wife to Labor and Delivery herself, came back to the unit, received an order to take the patient to be with her until he was ready for surgery. She went out to the wife's car to get her bags. She gave the wife her personal cell phone number to keep in touch with her if she needed anything. The wife was scared and since her husband was going into surgery and she was a high-risk delivery, she had no one to be her support. Krista offered herself as the support. Krista went above and beyond. The patient states that he is very happy and proud that his wife was here when this happened and stated that these were HIS nurses and he knows that anyone of them would have done the same thing. He stated that this is HIS hospital, coming from Waterbury for all his medical care.
