P commented that he needed a haircut and Krista said, “I can do that too!” I wasn’t sure she would be back but she came back at 3 pm and gave him a haircut.
Krista was the RN for my brother P on this day. P was paralyzed from the waist down in a recent plane crash. While he has had many awesome nurses and staff, I found Krista to be that rare, often vanishing breed of hard-working nurses - not afraid to jump in and do the dirty work which can often be delegated to other staff.

This day was the day before P’s birthday. When turning him, she decided to go ahead and give him a complete bed bath as he was sweating. She was also training another nurse. Krista gave the best bath - really washed him up all over thoroughly (quickly and efficiently too) - all the nooks and crannies. P commented that he needed a haircut and Krista said, “I can do that too!” I wasn’t sure she would be back but she came back at 3 pm and gave him a haircut. He felt sooo much better and given his current situation of facing life in a chair, it made a huge difference going into his birthday. Krista’s very friendly and engaging personality was just what P needed too.

She and her trainee talked with P about sports and growing up here - she was a real ray of sunshine this day. I can see why she was assigned a young nurse to train as well. She was excellent in teaching both my brother about his care and the young nurse. Her dedication and efficiency were outstanding. She is a true role model for nursing. If I was ever in a hospital - I would want her as my nurse. Thank you Krista, for everything you did for P this day. Your actions, kindness, upbeat personality, and encouraging words have made a tremendous impact on P.
