Krista does everything within her power to make sure our patients receive the best possible care not only in the Surgery clinic but across the organization.
There are so many ways that Krista has made a difference for the patients and staff here in the Surgery clinic and Valleywise Health. First and foremost, Krista does everything within her power to make sure our patients receive the best possible care not only in the Surgery clinic but across the organization. She steps into whatever role she is needed in to make this happen. On a daily basis, she acts as Medical Assistant, Surgery Scheduler, Surgery Coordinator, clinic and PAT Nurse, Administrative Assistant, Charge nurse, and general caregiver. She attends almost every Code White throughout the CHC. She takes the lead and makes sure that patients, visitors, and staff are cared for with compassion and skill during their times of crisis. As a Clinical Resource Leader she takes on additional tasks to ensure that her staff aren't overburdened and again to provide the best possible care to the patients. The following is just one example of Krista's compassion and dedication as a DAISY Nurse Leader

I would like to acknowledge Krista for her outstanding service and dedication to patient care here at Valleywise Health. I have approached her numerous times regarding a physical therapy patient who does not appear to be in distress but has a medical concern. She immediately stops everything she is doing and comes to the therapy clinic to assess our patients. There have been many times a patient is not in distress, but a wound looks infected, a blood sugar issue, or high blood pressure and she always assesses the patient and then assists with the appropriate recommendations. I would like to especially thank her for coming to the department on Tuesday, we had taken the patient's vitals and they were all in the normal range. We asked her to sit in a chair and she had a loss of balance and did not follow our simple instructions so I went asked Krista if she could check her blood sugar. Krista immediately stopped what she was doing, grabbed the accu check, and came to the therapy department. During her assessment, the patient became unresponsive and stopped answering our questions and a code white was initiated. Krista remained very calm, attended to the patient, and gave clear instructions to the therapy staff to initiate the code white followed by the hospital overhead page so the ED physicians would come to assess the patient. The patient eventually was transferred to the ED by ambulance.

Krista has always gone above and beyond for our department, and she never appears to be bothered when we ask her for assistance. She always has a positive attitude and puts the well-being of all patients first. She is a great asset to Valleywise, and I cannot thank her enough for always being there for us.
