Recently, I met an amazing nurse who was also a living angel for my mother and me. Krista through her compassion, strength, and faith helped me to realize my mom was passing. Mom had said for several days she wanted to go home and even referenced calling the funeral home. My mom was my rock and Iwas her greatest cheerleader, Krista asked to sit and talk to Mom alone. Krista exited Mom's room in less than 10 minutes and said my mom's wish was to go home and that I needed to understand she wasn't going to be the same mom I was trying to cheerlead back to health. Mom was 90 years old, her body tired, and she was ready to embrace God's loving arms. Krista was compassionate in explaining the signs that Mom was dying and if we didn't get her home immediately then her last wish would not happen. With Krista's care and loving support, I made the most difficult realization, Mom was going home to die. At 11:45, Krista began moving mountains with Palliative Care. By 4:15, Mom was home and in her bed. Her first words were, "Aww…my bed, it feels so good to be home." Mom was alert Friday evening to see neighbors and smile as my brother and I shared many life stories. As my father had passed 44 years earlier, Mom was both mother and father to us. I cannot thank you enough, that Friday; I met an amazing nurse in Krista and through Krista met a living angel. One who helped me answer Mom's last wish. God does work in amazing ways through amazing people. Thank you and God Bless!
