Despite what I am sure is a demanding and fast-paced role, she made us feel as though there was no place she needed to be other than with us.
I am writing to recognize an extraordinary nurse, Krista Rust, who cared for my wife and me during one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. While this happened midway through last year, it has taken me time to revisit and put into words the impact she had on us.
Last year, we experienced the devastating loss of our baby after learning during the anatomy scan that he was no longer with us. It was a moment of profound shock and grief—a time when the world felt like it had stopped. But in that darkness, Krista became a light for us. I truly believe that God placed her in our lives for that exact moment. She extended the healing ministry of Christ in a way that went far beyond what we could have ever expected.
Her compassion, presence, and grace in those hours have stayed with us and continue to bring comfort even now. Krista sat by my wife’s bedside and connected with us in exactly the way we needed. Despite what I am sure is a demanding and fast-paced role, she made us feel as though there was no place she needed to be other than with us. She mourned with us, cared for us, and gave us a sense of peace that felt almost angelic.
I wish we had received a survey to share our gratitude sooner, but I did not want to let more time pass without ensuring that Krista is recognized for the remarkable person and nurse that she is. Her kindness and care went beyond professionalism—they were deeply human, deeply Christ-like, and we will always remember her as a vital part of our healing.
Please extend our heartfelt gratitude to Krista and know how much she means to the families she serves, especially ours.
