She was very compassionate even when she had to move my daughter right after the surgery or reposition her, and I never felt like she was forcing our daughter into anything.
Krista was fantastic during our stay. Our daughter has been in and out of Primary Children's for the past 14 years with kidney issues and we have had a lot of nurses in that time, but Krista really stood out on her last hospitalization. Our daughter received her second kidney transplant recently and went to the ICU. Krista was her nurse right after surgery and for the next 2 days. She was friendly and accessible from the start for both the parents and our daughter. She was very competent and professional, getting our daughter hooked up to a myriad of monitors and IV lines, we could tell that she really knew her job well. She was very compassionate even when she had to move my daughter right after the surgery or reposition her, and I never felt like she was forcing our daughter into anything. She was great at making suggestions that were easy to understand and follow. Krista did show great leadership qualities. She was attentive to my wife and me as well and made sure that we were ok with all that she needed to do for my daughter.

On Wednesday we had Krista again and she was just the same as the day before, even with another patient that took up a bunch of her time. She was still right there for anything that our daughter needed and never stopped moving between her two patients throughout the shift.

On Thursday, my daughter was getting better and getting ready to leave the ICU. Krista again was more like a friend to her and seemed really excited for our daughter to be out of the ICU and going to the floor to heal more. One thing that really stood out was, Wednesday when I came to visit, she called me by name and asked how I was. I don’t think that we have ever had a nurse in 14 years call me by name. My wife said that during the entire time, she stayed at the hospital with our daughter only Krista addressed her by name. This really stood out to us that she would care enough about our daughter and us as her parents to remember our names as well as our daughter’s!

We just wanted to let you know how great we found Krista as a nurse. She is an example of what nurses should be and we really appreciate her taking care of our daughter. We would love to have more nurses just like her! She really stood out as a Nurse with all the experiences we have had with our daughter being admitted to Primary Children’s Hospital.
