I was scared. I was told I only had 35% of my heart left working after congestive heart failure. I was moved up to a room after being in the ER for 3 days on forced oxygen. I am a lung cancer patient who has exhausted all the medical treatment to prolong my life. The plan when I was moved was to get me ready to be released into Hospice care. For two days, Krista took care of me. She made me feel safe by checking on me as often as she could. She had a skip to her step that was positive energy, projecting a nurse who loves nursing. She devoted her time to me by explaining the new medications the doctor had ordered. She answered my many questions and when she didn’t know, she found out, then came back and told me later. The best thing about Krista is that she cared about me. I have been in all of the UPMC hospitals in this area of Pennsylvania during the different operations and procedures to fight my cancer, and I can honestly say Krista is the best nurse I have had caring for me. She is devoted to nursing and is a true DAISY Nurse.
