Kristal's care is commendable, and it is nurses like her who make a significant impact on their patients' lives.
During one of my shifts at HS, I had the opportunity to work alongside a charge nurse who also took on patient assignments. Her care was directed towards a non-English speaking family of a newborn and their mother. She went beyond her duties to deliver culturally competent care, ensuring that the mother was fully informed and updated on the care plan.

While I was assisting this nurse with French translations, the mother confided in me about this nurse's exceptional care. The mother expressed her gratitude for her constant check-ins, ensuring she received everything she required as a breastfeeding mother. The mother further narrated that this nurse had noticed her cold feet and immediately brought her a pair of warm socks, assisting her in putting them on. This act of kindness moved the mother to tears, and she expressed her appreciation for this nurse’s work. I initially assumed that she was crying because of her hospitalized baby. However, the mother clarified that she was moved to tears because this nurse consistently ensured she had everything she needed without asking. She added that this nurse’s care reminded her of how her deceased mother used to treat her. It is inspiring to see nurses go above and beyond their duties to ensure the comfort and well-being of their patients. This nurse’s exceptional care towards her patient's mother highlights the importance of compassionate healthcare. Her efforts went beyond providing medical care; she offered emotional support, making a genuine connection with her patients. Kristal's care is commendable, and it is nurses like her who make a significant impact on their patients' lives.

As a nurse and immigrant, it is a privilege to encounter care grounded in compassion, respect for humanity, and cultural sensitivity. The opportunity I had to work that day alongside this nurse, who exemplified these qualities, is priceless. Her dedication to delivering the best possible care to our patients and their families was inspiring and reminded me why I am proud to work in healthcare. Witnessing her efforts has only strengthened my resolve to advocate for our patients and their families and to ensure that we are delivering care that is both effective and empathetic. The experience of working with this nurse will remain a cherished memory for an eternity.
