My husband was admitted with renal issues. He had a previous trauma so this subsequent hospital stay was very stressful for both of us. Kristal displayed not only professional knowledge and skills but also compassion. As a healthcare provider myself, I appreciated her treating me as his spouse and not as a fellow healthcare worker as I was very much functioning as a spouse and my healthcare knowledge was not at the forefront. She advocated for my husband during his short stay; communicated with us continuously and also kept an open communication loop between the hospitalist and two specialists consulted. She displayed compassion, knowledge, patient advocacy, professionalism, and empathy. Kristal represents the OSF healthcare system to a "T" and very much deserves recognition.
