Kristen's kindness, gentleness, compassion, empathy and love made my Dad's last days bearable not only for him, but for me and my family as well.
Kristen took care of my father when he passed away from the Coronavirus. My father was 93-years-old and was living in an Assisted Living facility. Someone at the facility was diagnosed with the coronavirus, so they quarantined all patrons to their rooms. One week and one day later, my father had fallen twice, so he was taken to Chester County Hospital. This is where Kristen, my Angel and DAISY, came in.
Several hours after being in the hospital all by himself with no family by his side, my Dad was diagnosed with the coronavirus and then double pneumonia. Thankfully for my Dad and my family, Kristen was assigned as his Nurse, and I truly believe she was an angel sent from God. Kristen kept our family updated frequently on his condition and even allowed us to FaceTime with him on her personal phone. I live in Oregon and was not able to make it home. Kristen's kindness, gentleness, compassion, empathy and love made my Dad's last days bearable not only for him, but for me and my family as well. Kristen treated my Dad as if he were her own and told him that he was loved by all of us. Even though we were not there in person, I felt like my Dad knew we were there with him in spirit.
When Kristen knew that my Dad did not have much time left, she again used her personal cell phone so my family could FaceTime with him. If it had not been for Kristen, we would not have been with our Dad in his last moments. Kristen talked with him and told him that he was loved and not alone. She told him that his family was with him as she caressed his arm and shoulder. We were able to tell our Dad one last time how much he meant to us and how much we truly did love him. With Kristen's assistance, we were able to say our goodbyes and get the closure we needed, no matter how difficult it was. My Dad passed away moments later, knowing that he was loved.
The reason I did not write this nomination sooner is that I was still grieving the loss of my Dad, and honestly, it was too difficult to put in to writing. Today being Father's Day, it seemed appropriate to honor the woman who treated my Father as her own. I want to ensure that Kristen receives all of the recognition she so truly deserves. She went above-and-beyond caring so wonderfully and deeply for my Dad. I have told numerous people how wonderful and compassionate Kristen was not only to my Dad, but to my family as well. You always hear the bad things in life and seldom hear the good things. If my Dad were here, he would tell me not to be sad, but to go out and do something nice for someone else. Hopefully, Kristen will receive a DAISY and my Dad's wishes will be granted.
