I was called to the ER as my dad had a heart attack and was unresponsive. He also coded while in the ER. The decision was made to begin a filling process and he was moved to Coronary ICU for that process. Kristen was the night nurse. She was the first person to ask what my dad liked to be called, and she began using the name right away. She spoke to him even though he was in a medically induced coma and ventilator. Kristen gave him a bath, brushed his teeth, combed his hair - she stayed busy making him comfortable even though he was not aware of any of it. On top of that, the doctors were not very optimistic on my father's outcome and it was easy to get discouraged and sad. Kristen would always talk me out of my sadness and gave me hope when I had very little. Kristen was a wealth of knowledge and answered our questions - repeatedly and with sincerity. She even checked in on him after she had a few days off. Luckily, my dad made a miraculous recovery and will be discharged soon. All of dad's nurses were great, but Kristen was exceptional!
