Kristen Burney, BSN, RN

Kristen consistently puts others before herself with compassion and empathy. After working the night shift, a pediatric cardiac arrest came to the ED. Kristen offered to stay over and help the team as well as assist with the transfer of this patient to the Children's Hospital. Kristen stayed with the patient's mother to answer any questions and offer support and comfort during this tragic time. Unfortunately, the patient's mother was unable to fly with Starflight during the transfer due to Covid. Kristen went out of her way to drive the patient's mother to Dell Children's, an hour away to make sure that she would arrive safely and be with someone familiar instead of a Lyft. Kristen could have sent the patient's mother to drive herself or to arrange her own transportation, but instead, chose to show grace and compassion to a family member after working a long shift. These actions deserve recognition and we are honored to work alongside her.
