Kristen is one of the most passionate and hard working nursing students in my class.  She demonstrates all of the qualities necessary to receive this award; she is caring and she is a strong leader and advocate.  After graduation, she wants to work as a nurse in a prison.  She also has a strong passion for mental health.  I had part of my mental health rotation with her and she showed so much compassion for the patients.  In our post-clinical meeting, she became upset about the care, or lack thereof, given to the patients.  She advocated for her patients and demonstrated her willingness to go above and beyond the best care for her current and future patients.  She talked to our clinical instructor about how to do this and I know that she will (accomplish this) to the best of her abilities.  She has a lot of compassion and works well with other students which will help her to work with them and make a difference.
