Kristen had a very sick patient who was in his thirties and she worked tirelessly to keep him alive until his family could make it to the hospital to see him. She had to manage multiple blood pressure medications, the continuous dialysis machine, and ventilator as well as continue to hang blood products and fluids and draw labs frequently. She worked hard all night, only getting a brief bathroom break, in order to keep the patient going until his parents could arrive. Even after her shift was over, she encountered the patient's fiancée in the hospital parking lot and consoled her as she cried on her shoulder. Kristen works tremendously hard for her patients and is an amazing advocate for each and every one. This is only one example of a hard night that deeply impacted her patient's family.
