A family member called our hospital administration to say she could not go another day without telling someone how wonderful the unit 3-6 nurses are; specifically, one extraordinary nurse, Kristen Milburn, RN. The woman's daughter was admitted to the hospital with severe depression and it was tough because it was thought no one would be able to reach her, but someone finally did: Kristen. The mother reported that Kristen Milburn took the time to develop a relationship with the woman's daughter, and within that relationship-a breakthrough was made, and Kristen was able to help the patient-daughter with self-care needs that she could not display herself over many months of previously trying. One example of how amazing Kristen's skill and care were: every time Kristen left the patients room, she would tell her what a great day they had and how well the patient did with her therapeutic experience. Lastly, what touched he patient's mom the most was that Kristen would say repeatedly: "Thank you for letting me care for you." The mom stated that since that St. Joseph's Hospital visit, they both have a renewed sense of faith in the Lord and in hope. The patient has more confidence in herself since that hospital visit, than she has had in so long. Thank you, Kristen!
